Greetings from the East. It is hard for me to believe that it is May already, time sure does move fast. I hope you all are doing well and are ready for a very busy May for our lodge. We have several events planned, starting with our regular on May 5, dinner at 6:30PM with the meeting following, if you have not been down to lodge in a while, come on back and visit with your Brothers. On May 7 we will be having our Sweethearts Luncheon at Alfoccino Ristorante on Opdyke Rd in Auburn Hills at 3:30PM, bring your Sweetheart, family, and friends for some fellowship and lunch, we will be ordering off the menu.
On May 12 we will be conducting a double EA degree for two new Brothers, come down and help us welcome these men into Masonry. On May 13 there is a Lodge of Instruction and District Legislative Meeting starting at 9:00 AM, we will be working on the Master Mason ritual in the morning and the legislative session will follow lunch. I hope some of you can join me for a walk at the Zoo on May 20. May 20 is international endangered species day at the zoo and there will be special programs from 11-3 a.m.. Tickets must be purchased in advance at TICKETS - Detroit Zoo https://detroitzoo.org/tickets I will be attending Grand Lodge May 22 and 23, where our lodge will receive a trophy for winning the Lodge Charity Account competition. We have the highest percentage of members making monthly contributions to the lodge charity account in Michigan. Thank you for helping to provide the resources for us to make a difference for our members and community with your support. We will also have a special visit from the Grand Master to recognize our lodge for your efforts. The plan is to coordinate the visit with a fellow craft degree in June, stay tuned for more information. We will be cleaning up our cemetery plots in Oak Hill Cemetery, on Wednesday, May 24 around 5 p.m. tentative. Rain day May 25. On a sad note, two of our brothers laid down their working tools of life and entered the celestial lodge above. Brother Ernest Chittick who was a 70- year member and Brother Scott Taylor. Ernest was interred at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, AR. There will be a memorial service for Scott at our lodge at a later date. Details will be provided. That’s all for now brothers and I hope to see you at one of our events in May.
Respectfully,
Donald R. Crockett, WM
